Transfer Process

How long does the Anchor Foster Care Transfer Process take?

If you are already a Foster Carer the process can be slightly shorter than when you first applied. When transferring you still have to go through the full Anchor application process to panel. However, this is usually shorter and smoother for transferring carers. As a foster carer, you have the experience and can provide evidence that you meet the assessment requirements. In addition to this, there may be some training exemptions.

When you make the decision to transfer Anchor will get information and references from your previous fostering service. We aim to make sure your transition is smooth and that we minimise the time you may feel like you're 'in limbo', especially if there is a child placed at the time of transfer. Anchor follows the guiding principles from The Fostering Network Transfer of Foster Carers Protocol England (2014). We encourage Carers who are thinking about transferring to research and ask questions. We want you to make the right decision for you.
