“I don’t see them as foster children, they are part of our family”

It was my husband who wanted to foster. We have two wonderful children of our own and he wanted to give something back and share the love.

I chose Anchor because they are local and I knew another couple of neighbours that had been to their Skills to Foster training.

We have been fostering three young siblings together for five years and we will bring them up until they are adults. I don’t see them as foster children, they are part of our family. It can be emotionally challenging at times as they all have autism and ADHD, but it is very rewarding.

The hardest part was worrying about the impact on my own children, my son was 10 and my daughter 13 when they came, but it has been fine. The best part is seeing the children flourish and turning into happy children after such a difficult start to their lives.
