“The training is brilliant!”

We decided to foster when we moved to the UK in 2004. My grandfather fostered in his community, and I helped him look after small children.

I chose Anchor Foster Care because they have a good Ofsted report for supporting long-term placements, and their social workers helped us right through the application. The training is brilliant. I love training, it keeps me going. Every little training benefits both me and my children. Also, Anchor really gives us excellent 24/7 support and they do everything for me. I was with my daughter in A & E in a crisis and they sent snacks to the hospital for us and found an interpreter at 2 am in the morning, amazing! This young person was very religious, she was Christian and I am Muslim, so Anchor gave support for me to take her to her church in the city. She thought everyone at Anchor was her family.

My current foster child, (now 17), came to the UK a year ago as an unaccompanied minor. My husband takes him to Friday prayers with our sons and he’s settled in really well, studying at college and joining the local football club. My whole family enjoy fostering. We want to do this for the rest of our lives.
